FELLOWSHIPS & JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Southeast US, Academic opportunity

The radiology department of this state-of-the-art, Southeast U.S. academic institution is seeking fellowship-trained Cardiovascular Imaging (CT and MR) faculty members at the tenure/non-tenure-accruing level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor with an M.D. (or equivalent) degree and BC/BE in Diagnostic Radiology; experience with cardiac SPECT/PET is highly desirable. Applicants should also meet ACR and ACCF/AHA Level-3 standards in CT and MR.

The program is planning significant expansion of its radiology facilities as well as advanced imaging capabilities to accommodate anticipated growth in clinical, investigative and educational activities. The campus currently includes a growing 700-bed medical center supporting its US News and World Report Top-100 Heart and Heart Surgery program. McKesson PACS is integrated. They will be using Siemens for an overlay of workstation level access from remote/home, similar to their WebCT product. They use Tera Recon workstations, and also Siemens’ Leonardos for cardiac and some other advanced post processing.

An active clinical and clinical-research service in Cardiovascular Imaging is already in place. Equipment includes a Siemens Sensation 64-slice CT and a Siemens Sonata 1.5T MR. Installation of the Siemens Definition Dual-Source CT, the Siemens TIM Trio 3T MR and Siemens hybrid PET-CT Biograph-40 will be completed by the end of 2007. Standard SPECT and PET technologies are also currently used.

Primary responsibilities include coordinating an integrated cost-effective/high-yield/low-risk use of CT, MR, and standard/hybrid nuclear imaging of the cardiovascular system for clinical care; promoting a “team” approach with department professional staff and support personnel and with members of clinical departments; engaging in meaningful imaging research for future improvements in patient care and for program growth and development; taking an active role in quality assurance and safety measures; serving as a liaison with referring physicians and collaborators; providing instruction in the technical aspects, proper utilization, and interpretation of cardiovascular images.

Salaries are more negotiable based on rank and experience. Benefits are excellent and include: Professional Liability Insurance; a comprehensive group health plan; life and disability coverage; an AEF (Academic Enrichment Fund) retirement program and an optional state retirement program; as well as generous vacation time and sick leave.
