AHA Young investigator Award Information

Dear Cardiac Imaging Colleagues,

Make plans to join us for NASCI 2008 in Scottsdale! This has been a pivotal year in cardiac imaging, with a flurry of activity in multiple directions. This year marked the presentation of several multi-center coronary CT angiography trials, FDA "black-box" labels on ultrasound and MRI contrast agents, new CPT codes in cardiac MRI (most beneficial, some not), and concerns regarding imaging radiation exposure, and CMS coverage of cardiac CT.

Let NASCI help you navigate.

Jill Jacobs, M.D. and David Bluemke, M.D, Program Chair and Co-chair, have put together an outstanding program! We start off our meeting with our pre-session, the ever popular Cardiac Imaging Boot Camp, going over basic cardiac MRI and CT imaging techniques, anatomy and physiology. On Sunday, we present our Keynote speaker, Dr. Ray Gibbons, past president of the American Heart Association, who will speak on Integrative Cardiac Imaging.

There is a session dedicated to the future of cardiac imaging. Also, a dedicated track on pediatric and congenital cardiac imaging, to help you handle complex congenital disease in both adults and our littlest patients.

How do you image when you have a cardiac MRI patient with renal insufficiency, and you’re concerned about nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF)? Well, come and find out. Structured reporting or billing questions? There are lectures that can help you.

Don’t miss out on Mentored Interactive Cardiac CT Case Sessions, fun-filled Cardiac Jeopardy and the Vendor Workstation Round Robin. Fill up your Cardiac Passport during the Round Robin and get the opportunity to win an iPod Nano, Shuffle or Nintendo DS Lite.

Lastly, support our Young Investigators as they compete for Awards provided by the Cardiovascular Radiology and Intervention Council of the AHA and Schering-Bayer.

Best wishes to you all, and I look forward to seeing you at NASCI 2008!

Pamela K. Woodard, M.D.
President
